Our Story

Founded in 2011 as Blassingame Home Care by local community leader Bev Blassingame, Grace Home Care has evolved to become the premier in-home care provider for seniors and families in Topeka, Kansas. Our renaming as Grace Home Care is a tribute to Bev, now retired, who provided grace under pressure for clients and families through the transitions of later life. That grace guides our services today under new leadership from our highly experienced Executive Director Kate Clemmons and our parent company, Briggs Healthcare.

Our Mission

At Grace Home Care, our mission is to provide the highest level of service, expertise, and attentiveness to the Topeka area older adults, families, and community we serve through personalized, compassionate, and responsive in-home care.

Our Leadership

Debbie Holroyd, Executive Director

Having provided care for her own father, Debbie understands firsthand how home care services make a profound difference in the lives of older adults and their families, helping them navigate challenging situations and providing respite, when necessary, from caregiving responsibilities.

Debbie’s professional experience includes working for the Alzheimer’s Association, where she developed and taught educational programs, conducted one-on-one coaching, and facilitated support groups. After that, she worked for a senior living facility where she loved interacting with “her residents” providing case management and resident services. Debbie also has experience working in the mental health field. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Washburn University and continues to be fascinated by the human brain. Debbie finds deep satisfaction in helping others and her dream is for everyone who needs support in the home to have access to care.

Outside of work, she enjoys practicing yoga and meditation, spending time with her family and friends, and has recently taken up the hobby of rockhounding.

Topeka Caregiver Training with Your Needs in Mind

topeka senior careEach of our clients has unique care needs that require special understanding and assistance. That’s why all our caregivers receive ongoing training to help them provide better care. At Grace Home Care, we strive to ensure that our Topeka caregivers are extensively trained, certified, and confident in their role so that we consistently provide exceptional Topeka dementia care and senior care services. On average, most home care agencies provide their caregivers with about 10 hours of general training. At Grace Home Care, however, we provide over 120 hours of highly specialized in-home caregiver training to ensure our caregivers are confident in their work.

To fulfill this commitment to our clients and caregivers, we partner with the Institute for Professional Care Education (now Relias Learning), a nationally renowned training and certification agency for caregiving professionals, and we offer custom training programs to all our caregivers because better training leads to better care.
