When support is needed to help seniors stay safe, independent, and comfortable at home, home care services are an ideal solution. But what about when a loved one’s caregiver leaves after their shift? Unless the older loved one receives 24/7 care, there are periods of time that they will be alone and without direct access to support.

For many, 24/7, around-the-clock care is just not preferred, financially viable, or realistic. We recognize that gaps in care can lead to anxiety for family caregivers, and safety concerns for older loved ones. For that reason, we’ve invested heavily in exploring effective and non-intrusive ways to close these gaps.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new collaboration with StackCare, and to share how it can elevate the level of care Grace Home Care can provide to your family!

With SmartCare by StackCare, you gain comfort in knowing a senior loved one has technology in place that will supply an extra layer of support between caregiver visits.

How Does SmartCare Technology Work?

You’re probably aware of other forms of senior safety tech tools, such as cameras and wearable pendants. In contrast to those devices, SmartCare is inconspicuous and won’t impede a senior’s lifestyle – because they do not have to wear anything at all or have anxiety about being recorded on camera. Instead, SmartCare uses tiny, discreetly-positioned motion sensors that are placed around the home. In a matter of minutes, the system is up and running.

After that, artificial intelligence learns about the person’s typical routines, behaviors, and activities by collecting data provided by the motion sensors. Instant alerts are sent to you and/or our care team to notify of any changes in motion patterns that may be a reason for concern. For instance, if the older adult’s trips to the bathroom are increasing, it could indicate a UTI or other health concern.

These real-time updates allow for proactive, immediate intervention, to minimize the possibility of hospitalizations or the need for the individual to face a move to a long-term care facility.

What Are the Advantages of SmartCare?

Perhaps the greatest advantage is the peace of mind you will have, knowing a loved one is safe and well. With daily updates, you can feel comfortable knowing that the older loved one has had a good night’s sleep and is engaging in normal activities around the home.

Additional benefits include:

  • Nothing the senior has to remember to put on or press for help
  • Around-the-clock access to real-time alerts and insights
  • A chat component to easily share information with family members
  • No batteries to change, cameras, or microphones
  • No sense of intrusion that a camera may cause
  • Built-in thermometers to be sure the home temperature is comfortable
  • Privacy protection
  • Straightforward installation and operation
  • And much more

There Are a Number of Ways to Use SmartCare

We understand that each person’s needs are different. That’s why we provide several different ways for you to integrate SmartCare into a loved one’s care routine:

  • 24/7 monitoring by our in-home care professionals
  • A “Share the Care” model in which we monitor during the day, and your family takes over during the evenings and weekends
